MOUNTAIN BIKING: Wolf Creek Trails

← VA NEW RIVER IVANHOE VA Single Tracks →

Description

The is one of the finest pure wilderness mountain bike trail systems in the South! The Forest Service has done a superb job of creating 7 main contour loop trails along the top of the mountain with some fantastic and long singletrack descents along the north and south sides of the mountain. Corkscrew and Salamander Trails are two of the longest and most fun downhills anywhere with plenty of flow, rocks, speeed, and technical challenge. These trails are relatively new with nearly no one around and your are more likely to see deer, turkey, and bear than you are other riders. Much like Pisgah but even more wild!

Directions

Four separate trailheads in Jefferson National Forest just minutes from the Bastian, Virginia exit on Interstate I-77. Just look for the tiny "Round Mountain Road" sign on Route 52 or go up Hunting Camp Creek Rd out of Bastian and go about 4 miles to a Forest Service Road toward Burke's Garden. Trailhead parking at several spots along the climb up Round Mountain.
